Significant Losses
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." (Gen 3:15)
“The thing is...that she has never lost something significant,” Dominique (photo) answered regarding her passion for making photographic memories. That incredible art of freezing moments in time.
Now, you would think—“why would anybody be passionate about such a thing?” Well, allow me to bring about a new perspective: “why would anybody NOT want to remember?” Even Jesus chose to do so. As soon as there was sin, there was also a sacrifice (Gen 3:15). Fast forward: As soon as Jesus had to go back home, He chose to bring memories with Him. In fact, Acts 1:9 recalls the moment in which Jesus, still keeping His human nature, ascended into Heaven and is now at the right hand of His Father (Heb 8:1).
But, why would Jesus choose to keep His human nature in the first place? Rom 8:34 mentions how our Lord, through His bloody sacrifice, is now interceding for each one of us and freely offering eternal redemption to whoever accepts it (John 17:3). Crazy enough, the MEMORY of what He has done for us is engraved in His wrists, and it’s that what He is offering on our behalf. He comes back to those crucial frozen-in-time instants in the history of the universe over and over again and pleads for our freedom from bondage (John 8:34).
In other words, we are SO significant to Him that He didn’t want to permanently lose us. Thus, He not only chose to renounce to His divine form and be eternally separated from
the Father in that regard, but also He chose to keep His human form instead, together with every memory linked to it...forever.
Standing at the doors of a new year, as well as a new decade, I choose to keep the memories of every significant moment in which my Lord poured out His love for me in a personal level and I accept His redemption. What are some of your significant ones? Would you accept the memory of what He has done for you and be free today?
Happy New year!
