Second Chances

"Don't remember the former things; don't dwell on things past. Watch! I'm about to carry out something new! And now it's springing up—don't you recognize it? I'm making a way in the wilderness and paths in the desert.” (Isa 43:18-19)

“This book is for me,” said the barely 6” tall, mid-thirties, all-rounded-tattooed guy standing before me. He was holding a “Story of Hope” copy in his hands while recalling how God changed his life and now he seeks Him daily.

Me? I was amazed. How could a guy like him be so into “God’s stuff”? To me, he looked like someone who would be into everything but God. But no! I was proven wrong. He loved God. This guy was once given a second chance and he simply embraced it.

Could it be then that I’m still underestimating the power of God to change a heart for good? I believe so. I’m still grasping what “length and width and height and depth” of God’s love for us is all about.

Hence, isn’t Isaiah 43 the epitome of HOPE? God is a God of “second chances.” As my best friend once wrote—“People always say we find out what we had only after we lose it. [...] But nobody mentions that once in a while you get a second chance;” this chapter is all soaked in second chances and it’s undeniably real.

Were you ever given a second chance? Will you give a second chance today?
