Does God really exist?
I've been wrestling with this question for almost a month now. I've argued over it, I've cried over it, I've questioned the question itself. And so far, as I transition from one day to the other, my first personal conclusion to the overall idea is: “if you've never at least considered this question, it's because you yourself haven’t gone deeper enough into the matter. You've only accepted a pre-cooked or a pre-packaged version of the possibility of the existence of a trium being like God, His true character and why you should or shouldn’t be on His side.”
If that is the case, then it is quite possible that something or someone (another mortal...or perhaps many), is behind the reason why you believe what you believe so far. But, have you seriously wrestled and exhausted all the logical reasons that lead to one conclusion or the other? Have honestly looked into the possibility that there may be NO God? Have you even tried looking at that question in the eyes and challenge it for yourself?
It sounds scary and ridiculous at the same time, especially coming from someone that has been referring to herself as a “Christian” from a long time now. But, frankly, not even fear should stop me or anyone from knowing this truth or any other. Because “truth” (AKA, “correspondence with reality”) is vital for our mere existence. If you think about it, everything around us is reduced to the test of a simple question—“Is it true?” And, if fear stops us, then we may be feeding on lies…ONLY.
In my case, I certainly believe that coming to grips with questions
like this is of course one of those things that we all need to go through simply because the final conclusion will define our identity and what the rest of our time on earth will be like.
