Embrace Yourself

“But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he [Paul] is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.” (Acts 9:15)

WAIT! Hear me out...because honestly, I took this pic out of a joke. But it turned out that it helps make a point worth mentioning.

2019 started with many mountain-top experiences. Last night, for example, I had the privilege of standing up before roughly 50 high-schoolers and just tell them my personal story. In a very raw-honest manner, I told them about most of the experiences I went through which led me to who I am today. All in all, it was such a blessing that a girl burst into tears while we were talking afterwards.

Two lessons I take from the whole thing: 

1. There is power and immense beauty in your broken life. Just like Paul, your brokenness is one of the strongest tools that Jesus will use in your experience as a child of God as a mere revelation of Himself.
2. Yes, I may be scared of crowds but I’m in no way near of being scared of talking my broken life out. I’m not perfect but, truth is, I’m so loved and so accepted by God as well as the people closest to me that I don’t really care what happens outside of them anymore. After all, “perfect love casts out fear” (as the beloved John said so).

Point being—EMBRACE who you were. EMBRACE who you are now. The most beautiful thing in you will always be the version of who God created you to be. As Jane Austen said [paraphrasing], we are “utterly unprecedented.”
